Full lunch at a farm-to-table restaurant

City of departure: Bologna (BO) - Full day
  • 07.45 am: departure from Bologna.
  • 08.30 am: meet our guide in Parma and go visit an authentic producer of Parmigiano-Reggiano. Discover how the King of all cheeses has been made in the same way since the benedectine monks invented it centuries ago: you'll first see the the hand making, then the salt pools and finally the "wheel cathedrals", real walls of cheese in a single room. Tasting at the end.
  • To follow: photo stop at the medieval village of Torrechiara dominated by its romantic castle: For sure the most spectacular amidst the Castles of the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza and Northern Italy, dating back to 1448 DC, built by Sir Pier Maria Rossi for his lover Bianca Pellegrini. 
  • 11.00 am: visit one of the family-run ham factories producing the mythical Prosciutto di Parma. You will get to know why the best ham can only be made in the hills of Parma, where the Marino wind blows from the Ligurian Sea through the so-called Food Valley of Italy. Tasting at lunch. 
  • 12.30: full lunch based on the typical products of the territory in a farm-to-table restaurant: Parmigiano, Prosciutto as well as other kind of local cold cuts, a typical filled pasta dish (tortelli di Parma), homemade cakes. All paired up with local wines like Lambrusco and Malvasia! 
  • 02:15 pm: transfer to the province of Reggio Emilia OR Modena for a guided visit + final tasting at a family rum production site of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar PDO. 
  • 03:45 pm: end of activities.

Cancellation policy: 

  • No fee up to 16 days before the tour starting day; 
  • From 15 days to 7 days before the tour starting day: 20% penalty;
  • From 6 days to 3 days before the tour starting date: 40% penalty;
  • 48 hours' notice: 60% penalty;
  • 24 hours' notice: 100% penalty.

  • foreign language speaking guide (half day)
  • entry to a "Parmigiano-Reggiano" dairy with tasting
  • entry to a "Prosciutto di Parma" producer
  • full lunch with typical products' tasting, filled pasta dish and homemade cakes
  • traditional Balsamic Vinegar producer with tasting (guide/Owner on site)
  • transportation by private car (ONLY IF THE "WITH TRANSPORTATION" OPTION HAS BEEN SELECTED)

  • *the tasting/lunch can be organized also at a Prosciutto di Parma producer, Agriturismo or Typical Restaurant, depending on the availabilities.
  • if you choose the option "WITH TRANSPORTATION" the quotation is calculated with a departure from Parma or the immediate surroundings (max 15 Km) - departures from other locations will have a surcharge that will be comunicated by email.
